In springtime 1960,
saddler-master Johann and Paula Krassnig`s love did not change the world but a great new era of leather working began. In the year 1961 I caught sight of this cold and empty world. Nevertheless, I was able to feel the warmth of life in the following years of childhood growing up on my parents little farm. With a handmade leather schoolbag I again experienced a kind of parental care. In spite of this, I soon realized the regularity and mediocrity of society that tried to form me without consideration of my feelings. However, the hours I spent in my fathers saddler firm were like sunbeams in an endless long tunnel of youth.Direct contact with the material leather awakened my creativity and its development. The first makings of little reparations and accessories like belts, keyfobs etc. didn’t only better up my pocket-money but also were the beginning of my first doings. Trips took me to the United States of America, England and South America. They all stood under the sign of leather. Because of the cultural variety which I met on my trips, I got acquainted to various techniques of leather working. Among other things, these techniques inspired me to create my own, individual leather art.- The judgment of my handicraft is now in the observers hands.
